a poem by Mitchell Krockmalnik Grabois, who has had over eight hundred of his poems and fictions appear in literary magazines in the U.S. and abroad. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize for work published in 2012, 2013, and 2014. About our project number two Special Reporter:
My name is Jenean McBrearty. I am a writer for Defenstrationism Magazine (defenestrationism.net). I am definitely NOT interested in expose , social justice crusade issues, or fund raising.
As my resume demonstrates, my background is in Sociology, and I have extensive writing and teaching experience, including a teaching externship in the California Court Schools for at-risk youth, and have substituted in alternative schools and prisons.
I want to talk to people (particularly men as this group forms the largest group of both illiterate and incarcerated populations) about their writing experiences. For example, what did they read in school, have they ever tried creative writing (fiction, poetry, etc.), and what stories (characters, plots, etc.) in any genre or format they remember? Moreover, if any of these individuals have written or want to write for publication, we would gladly consider their work for the magazine. Not only will this give aspiring writers an opportunity to get read, it will give writers insight to the incarcerated-as-publishing-market niche.
