Meet the Finalists

Posting Schedule

We are equally honored to announce a new Judge for defenestrationism.net contests:

D.E.B. studied history at Bowdoin College, the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and Yale University.  After a decade as an historian with the federal government, he changed careers, first with a job as a boat rigger on Long Island Sound and later serving as chief of staff to a Maryland state legislator.  His literary interests incline toward Lincoln’s writings and the King James translation of the Hebrew Scriptures.  He reads Moby Dick every few years to scrub the barnacles off his brain.

And now, the winners…

We begin with the Fan Vote:

and with 40.4% of the Runner-up votes: In the Realms of Light and Darkness

and with 29.7% of the Runner-up votes: three bodies

(we allow fans to vote for two Runner-ups for exactly this reason, the fan vote Grand Prize winner often wins the Runner-up fan vote, as well)

And, drum-roll please…

by four-Judge panel plus fan voting,

the 2016 FLASH SUITE Contest

Runner-up is,

Before the Shooting: five portraits

by Paul Lewellan

and the defenestrationism.net 2016 FLASH SUITE Contest

We are almost, if not equally pleased to have nominated three of our FLASH SUITE pieces for the

A sobering Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 26th, 2015

Well, no terror in the Western Hemisphere on our National feast to give thanks for.

I’ll take 12 steps to that.  Giving Thanks takes one’s consciousness out of greedy selfhood, into humble gratitude.

We know the holidays are a great time for poetry and literature, enjoy surfing our complete and ongoing from the retro navigation panel, left, especially our flagship publication, the Art of Throwing People out Windows .

Be well, if well is what you wanna be
