begin with the stone

c. oyster

the oyster, so like the stone, requires only
an opening up, a taking of breath. your
belly fills with the wonderful insides, so
soft and precious. you are a cradle for the
brackish water filtering through your gills.
you and dozens of your friends clutch
together. the slip of current like hands
through hair.
